Part of my job in this industry is to ‘save’ inventors who would otherwise lose thousands (or tens of thousands) of pounds/dollars, using ‘invention help’ companies. Here’s just a few examples of inventors who felt they may well have been saved from this fate, who made comments after watching Deadly Mistake #1 of The 7 Deadly Mistakes That Inventors Make™ program:
So this is a real thing.
Here’s the reality. If you’re an inventor reading this, this industry, for the most part, is about making money FROM you, not FOR you. For that reason, the best action you can take, as a start-up inventor reading this, is INACTION, (at least initially). Just for a week or so. (I’ll explain what to do in that week, below).
The thing is, in life, it’s often best to be someone who ‘takes action’. Paralysis by analysis, (or paralysis by FEAR), can potentially diminish the life you could otherwise have. Life often rewards people who ‘go for it’.
But there’s a balance to be had, and in this particular case, (ie being an inventor who’s thinking about paying people to help you with your invention), ‘jumping in’ before you know what you’re getting into could do untold damage to your bank balance, could destroy your dream, and could potentially put a real dent in your life.
The Beauty of Inaction?
That’s why I always tell inventors that you should NOT spend any money on any provider right now, (including SHIINE®), when you first come up with your invention, or first look into who to hire to help with it. What you need to do is just spend a little time, (maybe a week or so), getting up-to-speed on what this ‘Invention Development’ thing really is, so you understand the position you’re in. Once you’re more up-to-speed, you’ll be in a better position to know what’s good for you, and to then make the RIGHT DECISION FOR YOUR INVENTION. (Making the WRONG decision on who to choose to help with your invention could make it almost impossible to win, so it goes without saying that this is not a decision you want to rush, or ‘hope for the best’ on. This is too important for that.
But I know what you’re asking- what should I do before making a decision? So what I’m going to do is give you a special list of things to do in the next 7-10 days. If you do these things, I think you’ll come out on the other side in a much better position, and with a lot more clarity as to how to move forward with your invention.
10 Days?
We actually have a 10 Day Free Trial aboard SHIINE® ENTERPRISE where you pay nothing, and still get access to a lot of good things. (Even after 10 days, the first crew member monthly payment is only $33, and you can cancel the trial before that even that comes out). The most important thing is The 7 Deadly Mistakes That Inventors Make™ program, which you get full access to. That alone will solve a lot of your problems in fully understanding what NOT to do with your invention right now. But you get other things as well, including:
- The Beginner’s Patent Search Video Tutorial
- The Patents Untranslated™ Video Series
- Free downloadable NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement)
So this is a bit of a no-brainer. But what I’m going to do now is get SPECIFIC on exactly what you should do. I’ll give a little list of things you can do over the next few days, (or even just today, if you want to ‘binge-study!’), and if you want, you can just do what’s on this list. Here it is:
1. Watch Deadly Mistake #1
Sign up to get The 7 Deadly Mistakes program, and watch Deadly Mistake #1. This is a shocking video where you’ll see the success rates of some huge ‘invention help’ companies. Required viewing.
2. Watch Deadly Mistake #5
Deadly Mistake #5 is ‘Getting Expensive Services Before a Prototype’. This is a HUGE problem, and it’s a mistake I made myself when I started out with Discshine™, my first invention. It cost me thousands of pounds. Don’t let it happen to you.
3. Watch Deadly Mistake #6
Deadly Mistake #6 is Getting a Bad Patent From a Patent Attorney. It’s shocking to some inventors, but hiring a patent attorney, (even an expensive one), is no guarantee that you’ll get the best patent protection possible for your invention. Many issues can happen. This might be a bit sobering, but better to know about it so you can make it less likely it will happen to you.
(One of the reasons I mention those three deadly mistakes specifically is that each one of those could potentially cost you around $5000-$15000. So if you make any one of those mistakes, it could potentially knock you out of the journey of being an inventor. It’s not to say there aren’t other great ‘Deadly Mistakes’, and I’m a bit partial to Deadly Mistake #2 myself, (Getting a Bad Patent Search), since I really like Bob, (an inventor who makes a quick video for you in Deadly Mistake #2, warning you about getting a Bad Patent Search), and since I think we have the best designed patent search in the history of the start-up inventor industry, the PerfectPatent™ Search). It’s just that Deadly #1, #5, and #6 can be so destructive to you, financially.
4. Download Free NDA
When aboard SHIINE® ENTERPRISE, download the Free NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) through the link you’ll see on your Assets Panel, and watch the brief video showing how to fill it out and use it. You can now disclose your invention confidentiality to anyone who signs the NDA!
These next ones will help you start to get to grips with some basic things about patenting if you’re new to this:
5. Watch The PUVS ‘What Is A Provisional Patent Application?’ Video
Aboard SHIINE® ENTERPRISE, you’ll see a link for the Patents Untranslated™ Video Series. If you click on that, you’ll see various videos you can watch. Go to the one called ‘’What Is A Provisional Patent Application? (And What Does It Do?)’’. (It’s video #1). Even if you think you know a bit about what a provisional patent application is and what it does, you should watch this. You might be surprised. It’s a very good video.
6. Watch The PUVS ‘What Is The Difference Between A Provisional and Non-Provisional?’ Video
Again in the Patents Untranslated™ Video Series aboard SHIINE® ENTERPRISE, you’ll see various videos you can watch. Go to the one called ‘’What Is The Difference Between A Provisional Patent Application and A Non-Provisional Patent Application?’’’. (It’s video #2). It will clear a few things up in your mind, and those two videos alone can really help you get to grips with the basics in terms of how we’re going to try to patent your invention.
7. Check Out The Journey Bar!
Aboard SHIINE® ENTERPRISE, you’ll see the ‘Journey Bar’ on one side of the screen. You’ll see it has the 8 steps of The Inventor’s Journey™, numbered. Visually, it makes it very easy to quickly see all the steps and the order they’re in. On top of that, you can click any step to go to a special webpage about that step/service. You can also click the STAGES segments of the Journey Bar to watch a quick video about that stage, and there’s also icons to view and download The Inventor’s Journey™ Map. So you can actually get a lot of information from the Journey Bar.
So, in short, whilst I’ve used the term ‘inaction’, you could argue this isn’t really ‘inaction’ at all- instead, it’s you learning and becoming informed about the situation you’re in, and getting yourself into a better position where you can avoid mistakes and have the best chance of moving forward successfully with your invention.
If I could give you a pill to understand everything about Invention and Invention Development so you were in the perfect position to start, I would. In the meantime, this is the best I can do! If you want to get access to all those things, you can do that free via this link.
