The Patenting & Product Development Process
After problems using the ‘invention help’ company, Jethro re-designed discshine™ to mount a large micro-motor sideways inside discshine™ (in order to fit a large enough motor inside and still maintain the low profile ‘spinning disc’ look of discshine™), with a non-centrally configured gearing solution to route the rotation back to a central axis.
Not long after, he drafted, filed and prosecuted the patent applications himself at the UKIPO and USPTO, taking the patenting into his own hands.
Jethro ended up patenting the sideways mounted motor with non-centrally configured gearing solution in both the US and UK. He also patented the Illuminated Power Band™ in the US and UK, as well as patenting other aspects, (such as the pressure-activated mounded pinchgrip), in the US.
In total, Jethro got 5 patents granted in the US and 2 patents granted in the UK for discshine™. The experience he got from this became key in helping other inventors. He has had to put off work on his own inventions whilst he built SHIINE® ENTERPRISE and The Inventor’s Journey™ to help other inventors, but hopes to resume work on discshine™ soon, and to bring all the information and learnings back to inventors, so they can benefit from the teachings.
