Design & Prototype
Our PerfectProduct™ Proof of Principle service aims to turn your invention concept into a tangible prototype, reflecting the ‘perfect’ final design of the product. The process is divided into two fundamental parts: the design phase and the prototype phase.
DESIGN PHASE
1. Creating the 'Perfect' Design
One of our product development providers designs your invention into the perfect final design of the product. Although there might be instances where the inventor brings us a product in its final form, more often, the invention needs to be refined into its ‘perfect’ version. This is to optimise your product and increase its chances of success.
DESIGN PHASE
2. Presenting you with the ‘Perfect’ Design
This often culminates in a consultation with you, where your product development provider presents the perfect version they’ve designed. This may include presenting some preliminary 3D modelling, or perhaps high-quality concept sketches. Once the design is approved by the inventor, we proceed to the prototype creation.
Prototype Phase
3. Execution of the Proof of Principle Prototype of the Perfect Design
We then create a Proof of Principle prototype of the perfect design. The focus at this stage is on building a functional version, even if it’s not visually appealing, for functionality testing and potential design improvements. However, especially with 3D printing, the results can sometimes be extremely impressive. (Whilst this process often involves 3D printing, it ultimately depends on the product type).
A huge bonus of this process is that, in most cases, it generates new patentable material, since the ‘perfect design’ usually includes new inventive features/steps beyond the original concept, and problems encountered during the prototyping that are solved often generate important (or maybe even pivotal) new patentable matter. This is the reason we do this step BEFORE your full patent application in the next step- so that your full patent application can include these new important inventive steps and features, which could even become pivotal to your patenting.
